Misfit Academy’s performance residency is designed for early to mid-career performing artists looking to develop their short-form performance skills. This residency is discipline agnostic and encourages artistic bravery and risk-taking with a focus on leveling up performers’ technical skills and storytelling through comprehensive act creation support.

Since 2015, Misfit Academy and The Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven have been offering performance support, rehearsal space, and our comprehensive residency program to Portland’s performing arts community.

Past resident artists include Alexis Peterka, Betsie Heart, Kate Makkai, Bentley Fox, Kelsey Aicher, and Jay Edidin.
